Hi, this is Andrea La Touche, your Post Graduate Students’ Union President.

A Limerick native, Andrea La Touche, has a career spanning over twenty-five years in the social care sector in Ireland working in both the public and third level sector. Andrea has worked extensively with Children in Care and the Homeless sector, managing emergency accommodation for homeless families in Galway. Her career is firmly rooted in rights-based advocacy and has an abundance of knowledge regarding the organisational constraints that hinder people realising their rights. Andrea has a long held interest and concern for Asylum Seekers and Refugees living in direct provision system in Ireland. Andrea returned to Education as a mature student, a graduate of both Limerick Institute of Technology and University College Cork, she holds a first class BA (hon) in Applied Social Care and MS in Voluntary and Community Sector Management. Andrea has just completed the MA TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) in 2019, soon to be a proud postgraduate of the University of Limerick. Her experience of integration in UL with international students primarily prompted Andrea’s involvement in the Postgraduate Student Union in 2019 to gain a broader cultural understanding and connection with international students. This engagement has led Andrea to a vision of deeper inclusiveness within the UL community and strategy to enable both national and international students to feel more included and connected to Limerick City and each other.
